Tasting History by Max Miller was created as a popular YouTube channel during the pandemic, and became a recently published book, Tasting History: Explore the Past through 4,000 Years of Recipes. This cookbook by Max Miller contains fascinating and well-researched food history and techniques with modern descriptions and explanations often going back to ancient texts and engravings. As the class discusses the book, Mickey Kitterman prepares medieval gnocchi before potatoes came from the new world, Alexander's game hen with hazelnuts and herbs, plus ancient Roman cheesecake with honey and poppy seeds.
Novel Cuisine is a culinary book club for food lovers that read the book in advance and includes novels, memoirs, histories, science and politics -- all with food as a central theme. The books for Novel Cuisine are available at Kitchen Conservatory. Come to one or as many of these classes as you like! Novel Cuisine started in our kitchen in 2006 and our readers and food lovers have discussed nearly 200 books! We love to hear from our students what books they want to read!

If this class is sold out and you would like to register for it, please call our store to be put on the waitlist.

The next Novel Cuisine, A Moveable Feast, is available on June 8.
